  • Labeling & Regulatory Assistant
  • FDA knowledge An international food company is seeking a R&D
  • labeling & regulatory Assistant with at least 1-3 years in the food industry R&D, QA, regulatory compliance, or product development. This food manufacturer has been around for more than 80 years, and their products are sold at most major grocery stores. They are growing!
  • You have to commute to the office everyday. This is NOT a hybrid position

K Summary:
Responsible for supporting labeling and regulatory activities for tofu and other plant-based food products Contribute to product development and process development activities for tofu products, including the implementation of new technologies Perform general R&D tasks such as product maintenance and new product development Principal tasks (not limited to and subject to change) Support the review and preparation of product labels, including ingredient statements, allergen declarations, Nutrition Facts, and claims Review label artwork from a labeling and regulatory perspective and identify required revisions Conduct regulatory research related to FDA and other applicable food regulations and summarize findings for internal teams Support regulatory compliance of products, labels, and related documentation Support compliance activities related to packaging EPR regulations, including data collection and reporting, in collaboration with internal stakeholders Contribute to product development, process development, commercialization, and product maintenance activities by planning, designing, and conducting experiments with minimal supervision Organize experimental data and clearly communicate results to Managers Provide technical support to other departments such as PD, Marketing, Sales, QC/QA, and Production Conduct shelf-life testing and sensory evaluation of new and current products Research food trends, ingredients, and market directions for concept and prototype development Contribute to product formulation activities by developing and testing product concepts while considering ingredient, nutritional, regulatory, analytical, and safety requirements
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree , preferred in Food Science, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field or possesses an equivalent combination of education and experience. 1-3 years of experience in food labeling or regulatory support preferred Basic knowledge of U.S. food regulations, including FDA requirements, nutrition labeling, and allergens Basic knowledge of FDA, USDA, and other applicable regulatory requirements Knowledge of food manufacturing, food hygiene, and quality control Requires strong attention to detail, as it involves consistently reviewing labels and regulations with a high level of accuracy. Basic knowledge of nutrition, chemistry, microbiology, and statistics Familiarity with analytical testing equipment and laboratory procedures Basic computer skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Regular tasting of food products. (not allergy to soy, milk, egg, wheat, chocolate, peanuts, etc.) Occasional food cooking for sample tasting which does not require special techniques. Occasionally travels to New Jersey and Philadelphia plant (about 1-2 times a year) Physical requirement: Frequent computer use in an office environment, Manual dexterity required, Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, Ability to reach, lift, bend, stoop, climb, and push or pull items weighing up to 50 lbs, Ability to travel by plane, train, or car if necessary This company has been outsourcing the recruiting matters to Ingredi, Inc., a recruiting agency.
