https://www.somervilleslauson.comOverview The Busser/TSA role is a dynamic, hybrid position that extends beyond traditional responsibilities to include food running and full dining room support. This team member is integral to maintaining the pace, cleanliness, and overall flow of service. Success in this role requires urgency, awareness, and a strong sense of teamwork, with a constant focus on supporting both guests and the front-of-house team.
What You'll Do:
Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked service stations, including coffee/to-go areas and all necessary service items (flatware, glassware, napkins, containers, towels). Proactively communicate any shortages to management. Support the dining room by efficiently clearing, cleaning, and resetting tables while upholding strict cleanliness and presentation standards. Deliver food to guests accurately and with awareness of presentation, pacing, and table position. Actively communicate with hosts, managers, and the kitchen/expo team to support smooth, informed service. This role helps identify guest needs, pacing issues, and any service gaps. Provide a warm and welcoming presence in the dining room—greeting guests, acknowledging departures, and building familiarity with regulars and neighborhood guests. Maintain a respectful, team-oriented approach with all staff and contribute to a positive, professional work environment. Take ownership of the space by keeping the restaurant clean, organized, and well-maintained at all times, including addressing spills, clearing debris, and completing assigned side work. Assist across all areas of service as needed, including running food or beverages, pre-bussing, sweeping, and supporting both FOH and BOH teams. Arrive prepared for each shift, in proper uniform, and ready to contribute. Maintain awareness of schedule, break times, and responsibilities throughout the shift.
Qualifications:
Ability to perform all core responsibilities with consistency and attention to detail Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Current food safety and required state certifications (e.g., ServSafe, Sexual Harassment, RBS)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time Frequent use of hands, reaching, bending, and lifting Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds when necessary Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment while maintaining focus and efficiency
