The functions and duties of this position emulate the accreditation standards for Christian Science nursing facilities. Qualifications The Food Service Assistant / Assistant Cook must be able to present / prepare all meals from established recipes. He/she must speak and read English for communication purposes to other staff or patients and be able to read recipes and menus. Present / prepare foods that are tasteful, balanced, and pleasant to the eye and in portions that are not wasteful. He/she should willingly accept directions and guidance, be self directed and motivated, friendly and able to interact harmoniously with others. This person must be in good physical health to perform general duties such as lifting boxes, carrying trays, or tubs full of dishes. Past experience of working in a professional kitchen or similar position is beneficial. Have a passion for food as someone who enjoys the process of food preparation. Must be neat and clean in appearance. Pass "Food Handler" exam. Responsibilities and Tasks Be consistently punctual Demonstrate safety when using kitchen appliances such as stove and meat slicer, etc. Handle and serve foods with the appropriate gloves or with tongs so that food is handled within state requirements. Treat residents and guests tenderly and with respect Keep working areas are always clean Assist other kitchen staff as need arises Perform administrative tasks as will be communicated by superiors Maintain required standards in the production and preparation of food - in quality, quantity and safety Work towards exceeding expectations by encouraging and promoting high level of service Accept all reasonable recommendations and suggestions by guests, residents and supervisors Resolve possible disputes within the kitchen and immediately reports any unresolved Promote good team spirit regularly Ensure all dishes are prepared according to specification and served at the correct quality, portion size, and temperature Prepare substitute items as needed Help to ensure timely production of quality foods, including proper arrangement and garnishing of food and monitor the quality and quantity of food prepared Report the need for maintenance to appropriate staff Be efficient and cost-effective Use properly and take care of all Food Service equipment and appliances Ability to: work effectively as part of a team; multi-task when necessary; be creative and flexible when necessary Follow all pertinent OHSA and State regulations Follow the Standard for Food Service from The Commission for

Mon-Fri 6am-2pm
