Position Overview:
The Assistant Dining Services Manager supports the overall success of The Village at Gainesville's dining program by ensuring exceptional service standards, smooth daily operations, and a culture of hospitality. This role manages dining staff, upholds food quality and presentation standards, and provides leadership in both everyday dining services and special events. The Assistant Dining Services Manager also serves as the point person for Tower Club events, working in close partnership with the Retail and Events Manager to coordinate event staff, expectations, and venue setups. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Dining Services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Resident Experience & Service Excellence Ensures a positive and enjoyable dining experience for residents, guests, and associates. Oversees dining service standards to ensure they consistently exceed expectations. Handles resident concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues when needed. Operations & Staff Leadership Supervises, trains, and schedules staff for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service. Assists with recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and performance reviews. Serves as acting Dining Services Manager in their absence. Monitors staff compliance with attendance, punctuality, and company policies. Administers verbal and written disciplinary actions when necessary. Tower Club Events Acts as the primary contact for Tower Club events, ensuring smooth execution and hospitality excellence. Collaborates with the Retail and Events Manager to review event details, staffing assignments, and service expectations. Coordinates event setup, staff responsibilities, and post-event breakdowns. Ensures events align with resident satisfaction standards and company procedures. Food Quality & Safety Evaluates and ensures food quality and presentation standards are consistently met. Arranges equipment maintenance and repairs as needed. Maintains a safe and sanitary environment for staff and residents. Adheres to all safety, health, and sanitation requirements. Administrative & Team Collaboration Attends required daily, weekly, and monthly department meetings. Participates in departmental education and in-service trainings. Maintains confidentiality of resident, family, and facility information. Collaborates with other departments to support campus-wide operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Three years of management experience preferred. CPR and First Aid certification (or eligibility). ServSafe Certified.
CRITICAL SKILLS & EXPERTISE
Strong customer service and hospitality orientation. Ability to lead and motivate diverse teams. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of local, state, and federal dining regulations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods. Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds. Adequate vision and hearing (with or without prosthetics) to ensure safety and communication.
