- Statesboro, GA Department Information Lakeside Cafe Job Summary The Student Assistant will support Lakeside Dining Commons as a Student Cashier on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026.
The Student Cashier is responsible for providing friendly and efficient service while processing customer transactions at various dining locations on campus. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period. Responsibilities
Greets customers warmly and provide outstanding customer service
Accurately operates the point-of-sale system to process purchases, refunds, and other transactions Maintains cleanliness and organization at the cashier station and surrounding areas
Handles cash, credit/debit card, and meal plan transactions in a secure and accurate manner
Assists with customer inquiries and resolves basic service issues
Restocks necessary items at the front counter and maintains a neat workspace
Follows all university and dining services policies regarding cash handling and food safety
Communicates with team members and supervisors regarding customer feedback or issues
Assists with cleaning duties and opening/closing procedures as needed Shift Specifics Up to 25 hours per week

Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
