Diversity Position Summary:
Join our child care team as a Food Service Assistant, where you'll play a key role in preparing nutritious meals and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment for children. This hands-on position combines food preparation, teamwork, and a commitment to supporting the health and well-being of young learners.
Pay & Schedule Starting Pay:
$15/hr
Hours of Operation:
Monday-Friday, 6:30am-5:45pm
Schedule:
Full-Time, 40 hrs/week

options Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Why You'll Love This Job Make a meaningful impact Caring, mission-driven team Consistent schedule No nights or weekends What You'll Do As a Food Service assistant, you will prepare meals while maintaining a clean kitchen environment to support the health and well-being of children. In this role, you will: Prepare and serve nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children each day Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation areas Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment Monitor and restock food supplies, supporting basic inventory needs Follow food safety guidelines and proper meal preparation procedures Communicate with the Food Service Lead about kitchen needs or issues Assist with daily kitchen upkeep, including laundry and cleaning supplies Create a welcoming, safe food service environment that supports children's daily routines What You'll Bring Successful candidates are dependable, detail-oriented individuals who take pride in maintaining a clean, efficient kitchen while positively contributing to a team-focused, child-centered environment. Diversity Requirements:
What You'll Need To be successful in this role, it is preferred that you have: 2 years of food service experience Experience working in a child care, school, or similar setting Familiarity with kitchen sanitation standards and inventory support It is required that you have: High school diploma, GED, or currently working toward completion ServSafe certification or a willingness to obtain Ability to pass a Waypoint/HHS Non-Law Enforcement Records Check Valid driver's license and ability to meet insurance requirements Ability to follow food safety standards and workplace procedures Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds
