Job Details Summary:
The Chicago Club is seeking an experienced Banquet House Attendant to join our team. The Banquet House Attendant will work independently or in a team environment. We are seeking an individual who is motivated to join our team and be part of our vision. An individual who will incorporate our values into their daily work: care for each other, do the right thing, be the example, never settle and have fun! As a Banquet House Attendant/Setup team member, you are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of any banquet rooms, hallways, storage, and service areas. You must routinely inventory and care for banquet supplies such as linens, chairs, china, glassware, flatware, and decorations. You are required to set up the banquet room per the specification of a banquet events order, and then reset the room to its original state after the event has concluded. During the event, duties include assisting servers, transporting tables and equipment, and reporting maintenance issues to the supervisor.
Schedule:
Must be able to work Monday-Saturday with some holidays, 40 hours a week and required overtime. Schedule will vary based on events, this position is responsible to stay late once the events have concluded in the late evening, at times past midnight. This is a non-negotiable item for the position. Start time will be in the afternoon 2pm and variable depending on the events. An ideal candidate will have open flexibility to cover 6am shifts if needed depending on business needs and to cover for other team members. Must be punctual and reliable. Responsibilities Check in with the catering supervisor/managers upon arrival to receive updated BEOs, diagrams, and assignments for the day. Follow Banquet Event Orders and being familiar with reading timelines, floor diagrams, guest counts, menus, and other additional information Move and set up tables, furniture high-tops, and linen for event rooms, including breakdown rooms after events. Walk banquet spaces and ensure rooms are clean and ready for set up of events or any site visits scheduled. Set tables with flatware and glassware, napkins, and set up for food stations. Must be organized and pay attention to detail when setting up. Clean and polish silverware & glass as needed Dust, vacuum, and wipe down any areas needing attention. Bring chairs, tables, and banquet equipment to the designated room(s) and set them according to the floor plan. After the room is set and before guests arrive, spot sweep any areas that may have debris from staff setting up. Assist servers with clearing plates and trash that collect during a function and bring them to appropriate areas. Breakdown of banquet function, clear chairs, tables, linen, banquet equipment, and re-set for next event. Participates in onboard safety training as well as meetings and drills, as directed. Assemble temporary dance floors, podiums, and other structures; relay data to outside departments; and set up equipment like speakers, screens, and projectors. Maintain all catering items in order and place where they belong. Use two-way radio with proper etiquette when communicating with the team. Maintain standards of personal appearance and grooming. Perform any other duties as requested by the leadership team. Requirements At least two years of experience in a similar role, hospitality setting preferred. Must be to read, write and understand English. Must be friendly, approachable, and professional. Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic. Can work independently with minimal supervision and can also work with a team. Physical Requirements Must be able to push/pull/lift & carry up to 75lbs constantly Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift, up to 10 hours per day This role requires constant kneeling, bending, and twisting constantly Must be able to work in a loud and fast pace environment occasionally Must be able to work in a variable temperature environment constantly Must be able to work a flexible schedule up to six days a week; including required weekends, & holidays
