Food Service Worker 2026-27 Impact Charter School - 2.8 Baker, LA Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications School experience Customer communication Pre-cooking preparation Customer service High school diploma or GED Meal assistance Full Job Description Position Summary The Food Service Worker assists in the preparation, serving, and distribution of meals to students and staff while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary food service environment. This position supports daily cafeteria operations and helps ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal nutrition and food safety requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, snacks, and other food items in accordance with established menus and portion requirements.
  • Set up serving lines and ensure food is presented in an appealing and sanitary manner.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, warmers, dishwashers, and other food service equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation areas, serving areas, dining areas, kitchen equipment, and utensils.
  • Wash dishes, trays, pots, pans, and other food service items.
  • Receive, inspect, and properly store food and supplies.
  • Monitor food temperatures and follow food safety procedures to ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Assist with inventory counts and notify supervisors of shortages or supply needs.
  • Maintain accurate records as required for meal counts, food production, and inventory.
  • Interact positively and professionally with students, staff, parents, and visitors.
  • Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Attend required trainings and meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager, School Administration, or CEO. Qualifications Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous food service, cafeteria, restaurant, or school nutrition experience preferred but not required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic food preparation and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to safely operate food service equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when appropriate. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, including kitchen heat and walk-in coolers/freezers.
  • Ability to safely handle food service equipment and cleaning chemicals.
Work Environment The work environment is primarily in a school cafeteria and kitchen setting. The employee may be exposed to hot surfaces, cleaning chemicals, kitchen equipment, and moderate noise levels. Terms of Employment Non-Exempt, At-Will Position Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required background checks and employment eligibility requirements. Salary and work schedule are determined by the school and available funding.
