4/30/2026 Summary The Food Service Assistant helps the cook in preparing meals, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring food quality and safety standards are met. Typical duties include serving meals, keeping a running inventory, paperwork that is required for the food program, cleaning the kitchen area and following food safety. CACFP Compliance and Administration:
Provide clerical support and monitoring of CACFP in developing menus, purchasing food, and keeping menu records Enter information into computer and transmit monthly reports to the state Print monthly claim and place copies in the CACFP monthly file Perform all other duties required by CACFP including maintaining files (receipts, inventory, free lunch sheets, etc.) Complete quarterly monitoring of program Fill out and submit annual CACFP application
Kitchen and Delivery Duties:
  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals.
  • Ensure proper food storage and handling procedures are followed.
  • Monitor inventory and report shortage to the Food Coordinator.
  • Follow guidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control.
  • Transport all meals from one location to the other.
  • Assist with storage food items
  • Cleaning and organizing work areas, equipment, utensils, and service station.
  • To provide clerical support and monitoring of CACFP and keeping menu record and enter information into computer and transmit monthly report to the state.
  • To perform all other duties by CACFP, i.e., maintain files, receipts, inventory, free lunch sheets, quarterly monitoring of program, fill out, and submit annual CACFP application.
  • To maintain records of purchase orders, coded orders or receipts and deliver paperwork to the business office.
  • Labeling food with date and storing food items.
Additional Support Functions:
Be available upon request to help in any capacity needed, including Secretary/Receptionist, Housekeeping, and other duties Cooperate with other office personnel in providing Division services as directed Perform related tasks as required by the Coordinator of Center-Based Services and the Director of Children's Services OSHA Standards Ability to stand for extended periods during food service operations Ability to lift and carry supplies and food products Ability to use both hands in fine and gross manipulation of kitchen equipment and office tools Ability to push and pull equipment and supplies as needed Ability to see well enough to read menus, labels, and written materials Ability to hear and speak well enough to communicate with staff, children, and program participants Ability to reach, turn, and twist above and below the waist to retrieve items from shelves and storage areas Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday Ability to work in an environment with moderate noise levels Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks Physically able to care for children
Pay:
$13.00 - $14.00 per hour
