JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Food Service Director shall be responsible for food service-related business and personnel management.

They shall be responsible for supervising, coordinating, evaluating, and directing the work duties of all food service personnel, and the preparation and distribution of high-quality nutritious meals in a clean and safe environment. They shall ensure that the District's food services program complies with all local, state, and federal agency requirements. They will complete all required reports promptly and accurately and will operate the program efficiently and effectively, in collaboration with each school's administrators.
QUALIFICATIONS
'Serv-Safe' Certification A valid Massachusetts Driver's License Training, experience, and ability to direct the total food service operation for the District; Knowledge of large quantities, nutritious meal preparation, and menu planning; Experience completing accurate state, federal, and local reports on time; Maintain confidentiality of student/family data; Effective management, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills; Background in dietetics, nutrition education, culinary arts; A students-first mindset; Proficient with Microsoft and Google Suite products; and, Any additional qualifications set by the District. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required Cori and fingerprint clearance are required
REPORTS TO
Food Service Director and Director of Finance. The Director of Finance shall complete an annual written evaluation covering the individual's effectiveness in handling the duties and responsibilities of the position.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Full Time, 190 days; 180 of which align with the student school year 7.5 hrs a day; Non Union; Contributing to Barnstable County Retirement Association
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
(include but are not limited to): Responsible for the preparation of monthly menus-providing high quality, affordable, nutritious food that students will enjoy eating; providing nutritional information on all food items served to comply with requirements/mandates from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Board of Health; Responsible for the cleanliness and proper storage of all equipment and the proper handling, serving, and storage of all foods; Maintains a monthly inventory of food and supplies in accordance with federal regulations; Responsible for the cleanliness of all kitchens (in coordination with the DPW); Responsible for maintaining confidential records and filing reports related to the school lunch program, as required by the Director of Finance, state, and federal government; Arrange for substitutes when food service personnel are absent; Responsible for the purchase of food commodities; Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of food service personnel; Provides professional growth for food service personnel with appropriate educational programs and incentives; Coordinates the use of food service department facilities and/or equipment by staff or outside groups; Obtain bids from vendors for the procurement of food, equipment, and services needed for the department and make recommendations regarding which bids/proposals are in the overall best interest of the department and District; Manages the food service department in an efficient manner while following District budgetary guidelines; Collaborates with the Superintendent and/or building principal in providing food services for special District or school events; and, Performs any and all other duties prescribed by the Director of Finance. Work Environment Spends the majority of the day working in schools; Involves travel between schools (all within 1-2 miles) and to meetings outside of the District; Minimal physical effort is generally required to perform duties under typical conditions. The Assistant Food Services Director is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, speak, hear, and use hands to operate equipment; Able to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds; Vision requirements include the ability to read routine and complex documents and to use a computer.
