Friendship Centers of Emmet County is a non-profit organization designated as the Council on Aging for Emmet County. We provide need-based, simple assistive care services to seniors in Emmet County, allowing older adults to remain living in their own home.

JOB SUMMARY

The Food Service Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Nutrition and Food Service Program Director of the Friendship Centers of Emmet County (FCEC).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Wash dishes, pots and pans, and cooking utensils. Assist with meal preparation and serving as needed. Clean kitchen, serving area, and equipment. Assist with room set-ups and take-downs. Adhere to Health Department regulations and AAANM standards. Maintain agency, staff, and client confidentiality. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

OTHER ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be cordial and respectful to seniors and co-workers. Must lift and work in a kitchen environment in a safe manner, reporting any observed safety hazards to management promptly. Must be well-groomed and maintain excellent personal hygiene at all times.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Fast-paced commercial kitchen environment. Kitchen can often be hot and humid. Exposure to open flames and hot ovens. Any spills must be cleaned immediately to prevent slip and fall accidents. Exposure to cleaning products. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. safely, using proper body mechanics. The majority of every day is spent on your feet. Must be able to stand, walk, lift, reach, bend, climb step stools. Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, be able to take and give directions, be able to speak and see clearly.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

From $15.50 per hour
