GENERAL PURPOSE
To support the daily operation of the school food service program by improving meal service efficiency, student participation, and overall meal quality while also assisting with custodial, maintenance, and facility needs throughout the school building. This position is divided into approximately .5 FTE cafeteria support and .5 FTE custodial/facilities support.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent Two years of customer service, food service, custodial, maintenance, or related experience in a charter school setting preferred Bilingual in Hmong preferred Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to lift and move supplies, equipment, and materials Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor with students and staff Food safety knowledge preferred
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Service Support (.5 FTE) Assist kitchen staff with breakfast and lunch preparation and service Support efficient meal service to reduce wait times and improve student access to meals Assist with meal setup, serving, and cleanup Stock and organize food, supplies, utensils, and serving areas Receive, unload, and store food deliveries and kitchen supplies Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food service areas in accordance with health and safety requirements Assist with meal counting, organization, and preparation activities as directed Support efforts to increase student participation in school meal programs Assist students as needed during meal service Maintain positive interactions with students and staff during meal periods Facilities/Custodial Support (.5 FTE) Empty and clean trash receptacles Sweep, mop, scrub, and maintain floors Dust and clean office and classroom furniture Clean interior and exterior windows and glass doors Disinfect and clean restroom facilities Replenish restroom and custodial supplies Vacuum and maintain carpets Assist with event setup and teardown Move and arrange furniture and equipment as needed Perform routine building inspections and security checks Assist with minor maintenance tasks and building upkeep Support staff with lifting, moving, and arranging materials and equipment Assist with seasonal projects and building improvement activities Follow other duties as assigned by senior administration
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Knowledge of basic custodial, sanitation, and cleaning procedures Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices preferred Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, families, and vendors Ability to work safely and efficiently with minimal supervision Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling Regular lifting and carrying of supplies, food products, equipment, and materials Exposure to cleaning chemicals, food preparation equipment, and varying temperatures Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation Use of custodial equipment, cleaning tools, carts, and food service equipment
POSITION INFORMATION
Salary:
$19.00-$24.00 an hour based on qualifications
