Job Description

The Banquet Captain is a key leadership role responsible for bringing our banquet and catering events to life with precision, energy, and professionalism. This position leads the banquet staff on-site, manages event flow, and ensures every event meets our service standards while creating a great guest experience. The Banquet Captain reports directly to the Event Manager and acts as their on-the-ground partner during event execution, helping ensure every detail comes together seamlessly. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Event Execution Lead and motivate by example with strong floor presence and attention to detail Serve as on-site leader in the absence of the Event Manager Execute events per BEOs, timelines, and service standards Oversee setup, service, and breakdown Anticipate needs and resolve issues in real time Be present for all events from setup through breakdown Lead through last-minute changes and high-volume service Staffing & Scheduling Create and manage staff schedules based on event needs Ensure proper staffing levels and adjust as needed Supervise staff during service and delegate tasks Train and onboard new team members Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate expectations clearly Hold the team accountable to service standards and performance Operations & Inventory Management Order and manage linen inventory for all events Order and maintain beverage inventory as needed Ensure readiness of equipment, supplies, and service areas Coordinate with culinary, sales, and events teams Guest Experience & Standards Uphold and enforce service and presentation standards Address guest needs with professionalism and urgency Ensure cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail Qualifications Minimum 2-3 years of hotel banquet or event service experience; leadership experience required Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills Experience with scheduling, labor management, and event execution Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stay on feet for long periods of time. Thorough understanding of banquet service styles (buffet, plated, reception, etc.) Flexible schedule with required availability for nights, weekends, and holidays Compensation & Benefits Starting wage $22/hr or BOE Gratuity/tip eligible
