Food Service Worker on Fort Dix

Job Summary Food Service Inc. of Gainesville is seeking dependable and hardworking Food Service Workers / Mess Attendants to support dining facility (DFAC) operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient food service environment while ensuring excellent service to all patrons. Key Responsibilities Serve food on the serving line in a courteous and professional manner Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, serving lines, and kitchen spaces Perform dishwashing, pot washing, and sanitation duties (scullery operations) Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, beverage stations, and high-touch areas Restock food, beverages, utensils, and supplies as needed Assist cooks and kitchen staff with basic food prep tasks Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards Remove trash and maintain waste disposal areas Support opening and closing procedures for the dining facility Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred (not required) Previous food service or hospitality experience is a plus Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Strong attention to cleanliness and detail Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required Must be able to pass background check (if required by contract) Certifications (Preferred but Not Required) Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long periods of time Lift and carry up to 40 lbs Perform repetitive tasks such as bending, lifting, and cleaning Work Environment Military dining facility (DFAC) or institutional food service setting May include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays Fast-paced environment with high meal volume Why Join Us?
