Why does the job exist? To provide food delivery services across a large long term care facility campus. Responsible for the safe, sanitary, and organized intake and storage of food and food service items. Distrubition of food and food service items to several home like kitchen environments. Provide support for other departmental staff pertaining to necessary resident related functions, activities, and needs. How does it get done? Intake food and food service products from delivering vendors. Safely store, rotate, and package food and food service items for distribution into the facilities residencies. Take inventory, read recipes, and build delivery assortments for distribution multiple times throughout each shift. Assist other facility departments to assure that our residents receive the best possible care, while maintaining a clean, safe, and survey compliant environment. Who are the customers? The primary customer are the brave men and women that answered our nations call, executed their duties and now are unable to live in their respective communities due to failing health. This job will also support the widows of the service men and women to include parents that have lost children in combat (Gold Star Parents) Ideal Candidate The primary customer are the brave men and women that answered our nations call, executed their duties and now are unable to live in their respective communities due to failing health. This job will also support the widows of the service men and women to include parents that have lost children in combat (Gold Star Parents) Minimum Qualification No prior experience or training required. Employment Requirements Employment is subject to criminal background check pursuant to New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act, (Sections 29-17-2 through 29-17-5 NMSA 1978 and 7.1.9.1 through 7.1.9.11 NMAC) and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Safe Food Handling Certificate or receive within 1 week of date of hire. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver's license. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training. Must sign and observe confidentiality agreement. Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language. Occasional travel for training and meetings and driving a State of NM owned motor vehicle may be required; Working hours may include weekends, holidays, overtime, and callback hours. Essential functions of the job and specific physical ability requirements will be available at the time of interview or may be obtained at the New Mexico Veterans' Home Human Resources office. Working Conditions This position will perform work primarily in a kitchen setting with exposure to high and low temperatures from ovens and freezers. Some standing, walking, bending, squatting and reaching above head and shoulders as well as the ability to carry/lift up to 50 pounds is required. Incumbent may be exposure to minor physical harm such as cuts from knives, kitchen machinery and other kitchen equipment. Frequent interaction with, residents, family and staff. Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language, which may include recipes, therapeutic diets and warnings on cleaning products. Position is required to work holidays, callback and overtime.
