Senior Dining Aide
COMMUNITY ACTION ORGANIZATION OF WESTERN NEW YORK INC
Buffalo, NY Job Details Part-time $18 an hour 22 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description SUMMARY Responsible for assisting with the daily operation of the Senior Dining Program, including meal preparation and service, participant registration, attendance tracking, collection of participant contributions, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for older adults.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Receives, warms, and serves meals provided through the Erie County Senior Dining Program in accordance with established food safety guidelines. Sets up and breaks down dining areas before and after meal service. Greets participants and creates a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for seniors. Maintains daily attendance records and completes all required program documentation accurately and timely. Collects and records participant contributions in accordance with program procedures. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation, serving, and dining areas. Monitors meal counts and reports shortages, delivery issues, or concerns to the supervisor. Assists participants during meal service and provides general support as needed. Distributes program information, announcements, and educational materials to participants. Monitors participant well-being and reports concerns, accidents, incidents, or emergencies to the supervisor. Maintains inventory of program supplies and reports needs to the supervisor. Completes daily reports and other required documentation. Performs all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requires experience working with the public, customer service, food service, senior services, or community-based programs. Incumbent must be dependable, courteous, organized, and able to work independently. Basic computer and recordkeeping skills preferred. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED required. Experience working with older adults, food service, customer service, or community-based programs preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, and program guidelines. Ability to complete attendance records, reports, and routine correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts and maintain accurate attendance and contribution records.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and address participant concerns in a professional manner. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and exercise sound judgment in routine situations.
