Job Summary:
This posting is for a pooled position. Application submissions for "[POOL]" positions are accepted on an ongoing basis to ensure a continuous and ready pool of qualified candidates for immediate review when the need arises. If/when a position becomes available, the College will review applications from this pool, and interview candidates whose qualifications best match the specific opening. Applicants must reapply to the pool annually to maintain their active status in the pool. Performs basic catering service duties for Culinary Arts Catering, including preparation of food items, serving and set-up and/or take down of events. Assists Catering Division employees with other tasks as needed.
Essential Duties:
Prepares for catering events by setting up buffets before the start time and cleaning up buffet when the customers are finished. Prepares food & beverages for event orders according to the customers' specifications in an efficient and accurate manner including hot/cold food preparation, baked items, and beverages. Maintains positive and respectful communications with kitchen crew and clients. Keeps work and service area in a safe, sanitary and orderly manner. Understands and complies with County/State/Federal health codes to ensure the health and safety of the customers. Cleans preparation and service equipment. Restocks work stations for needed supplies and notifies Catering Lead of items needing to be ordered. Washes dishes and assists with cleaning in other areas as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a current Food Handler's card or must obtain it within 30 days of employment. Current LBCC students are encouraged to apply.
Knowledge and Skills:
Requires high school level reading, writing, and arithmetic skills. Requires skills and knowledge of the use of kitchen utensils and equipment. Must have knowledge and understanding of safety and sanitation practices and procedures related to the position. Must have strong customer relations skills.
Abilities:
Must have the ability to independently carry out the duties of the position. Must be able to sufficiently read and comprehend instructions and safety materials. Must understand and follow labels and instructions for using detergents and chemicals used in cleaning. Requires the ability to handle food and related equipment in a manner which meets county health and safety standards. Must be able to safely work around hot surfaces and use kitchen equipment and knives in a manner that is safe for self and others in the area. Requires the ability to receive and carry out written and oral instructions. Must be able to work within a team and promote harmonious working relationships. Must be able to interact with customers in a manner which reflects positively on the department. Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of one year' experience in food service with equipment experience with knife, meat slicer, dishwasher, deep fryer, flat top grill, convection ovens, range and robot coupe food processor is preferred.

Physical Skills and Abilities:
Position involves long periods standing plus light to medium work, which includes, kneeling, and carrying and lifting of light to medium weight materials (10 to 50 pounds). Must be able to operate a computer and general office equipment. Requires ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in a kitchen setting with some safety hazards. Some weekend and evening hours may be required. Occasional travel to offsite may be required. Lifting, pushing, pulling and bending light to medium weight materials is often required for setting up and breaking down events.
