JOB TITLE
Assistant Dining Room Manager
REPORTS TO
Dining Room Manager
JOB OVERVIEW
The Assistant Dining Room Manager is responsible for supporting the FOH and bar team with positive reinforcement, daily tasks, projects, communication, training and staff supervision. Primary responsibilities include shift coverage, purchasing, maintenance, and staff training as scheduled. Equally important responsibilities include maintaining a vibrant dining room while ensuring superior customer service is always the priority and that any topics of concern and incidents are communicated accordingly.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
General Communicates regularly with the Dining Room Manager as to departments needs and progress. Provides staff communication and assistance to the Dining Room Manager. Supervises and organizes daily FOH operations during peak cafe hours as scheduled. Participates in regular FOH meetings and staff functions. Financial Supervises and communicates daily bar needs, as directed by the General Manager. Implements restaurants financial objectives with beverage purchases to maintain the Company's monthly and annual budgets. Motivates FOH staff to achieve company driven sales and inventory goals. Conducts monthly inventory on the first of the month in conjunction with the Dining Room Manager. Staff Management Accomplishes company driven goals by providing leadership & mentoring FOH and bar staff, maintaining culture standards provided by the General Manager and Owners. Assists management team with schedule coverage utilizing Homebase and complies with the labor forecasts. Communicates with bar staff through company provided communication outlets. Creates a positive work environment and supports policies and procedures for employee efficiencies and to maintain team happiness. Guest Service Ensures positive guest service in all areas. Respond to customer complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests. Share comment card feedback at weekly FOH Meeting. Operational Manages and communicates beverage inventory at the cafe and prep kitchen. Delegates and communicates equipment repairs as needed and maintains dining room cleanliness & aesthetics. Communicates with contractors and purchases replacement parts for dining room and bar equipment. Assists Dining Room Manager with seasonal project load and during absences.
QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years of staff supervisory experience. College degree is preferred. A Bachelor degree in hospitality management is desirable. Knowledge of computers (Google Drive, POS systems, HomeBase). Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports. Must possess a valid driver's license, OLCC and Oregon Food Handlers card.. Must be eligible to work in the United States.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
Excellent communication with the Dining Room Manager and General Manager. Self-disciplined, receptive to feedback, energetic and outgoing. Pleasant, polite and maintains a neat and clean appearance. Motivates employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service meet Company standards. Handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to restaurant problems. Good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff. Coordinates multiple tasks while maintaining required standards of operation in daily restaurant activities. Helps determine applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants. Must be available and flexible on evenings, weekends and holidays.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Keeps Dining Room Manager and General Manager promptly and fully informed of all issues (i.e. problems, unusual matters of significance and positive events) and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action. Completes job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and in accordance with Solstice policies and procedures. Maintains a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity and efficiency/effectiveness. At all times provides a favorable image of Solstice to promote its "Wood Fired, Gorge Inspired" philosophy and positive team culture. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours may vary seasonally and must fill in for his/her employees or if emergencies arise (typical work week = 30 - 40 hours). Ability to perform all FOH functions at the restaurant level. Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion. Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operate phones, computers, copiers, and other office equipment.
