Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Per Diem Cafeteria Assistant supports the daily operations of the school kitchen and lunchroom on an as-needed basis. This role ensures the smooth delivery of food services by assisting with meal preparation, serving, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized dining environment. The Cafeteria Assistant works collaboratively with the kitchen and lunchroom staff to provide a positive experience for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in setting up and serving meals, ensuring adherence to food safety guidelines. Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and lunchroom areas, including washing dishes, wiping surfaces, and disposing of waste. Monitor students during meal times to promote safety and proper behavior in the lunchroom. Stock and replenish supplies, such as utensils, trays, and condiments, as needed. Follow all health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation procedures. Provide friendly and courteous service to students. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Food Services Coordinator.
Qualifications:
High school diploma Experience in food services or working in a school environment is a plus. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods. Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English and Spanish. Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to varying schedules. This position is ideal for individuals seeking a flexible, part-time opportunity to support school food services in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
