Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title:
Banquet Captain Department:
Food & Beverage Reports to: Banquet Manager S tatus: Hourly / Non -
Exempt Principal Responsibilities:
The Banquet Captain is responsible for supervisor and assisting with the setup, service, and clean up of all assigned banquet functions. Also ensures the quality of service, compliance of health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness standards. They are responsible for the banquet team to ensure we are exceeding all guest & member expectation.
Essential Functions:
Inspect the setup of meeting and banquet functions, checking them against the banquet event orders (BEO's) Supervise and assist with the setup of assigned catered functions ensuring that the Club's standards are met Oversee set up, service, and break down of all banquet beverage stations and bars. Prepare in advance all consumption reports and reconcile at the end of the evening. Advance preparation in staffing to allow efficient service to the guest once the function begins. Act as liaison between Sales/Catering manager and the contact / member Assist the Banquet Manager with the creation of the banquet work schedules and completion of banquet service staff reviews. Be the leader and drive all training throughout the department. Requisition liquor for all banquet bars and maintain proper control over banquet beverage service. Supervise and assist with the breakdown after the completion of functions to ensure that all equipment and supplies are stored properly. Inspect the sanitation of all function space and storage areas to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organization throughout the department. Follow all state liquor laws. Be familiar with all banquet menus and pricing. Hold pre-function meetings with team members and check staffing and menus prior to events. Assign side work duties and stations to all servers. Supervise service of station or banquet room. Monitor ongoing functions throughout assigned shift. Prepare accurate captains reports. Assist Banquet Manager in the hiring process. Attend training as required by management. Maintain the cleanliness of all banquet rooms, service areas, and equipment. Provide an issue free work environment through motivation, support, consistency, training and development for all associates. Understand all banquet duties and assist when needed. Completes other appropriate assignments made by the Assistant General Manager and General Manager Supportive Functions In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company. Other projects and responsibilities may be added at manager's discretion.

Assimilate into the Westmoreland Club culture through understanding, supporting and participating in all elements of corporate policies. Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Safety Requirements:
OSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health of safety: As outlined by Pennsylvania state mandates Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. The hotel provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your manager.

Ability to read, write and speak the English language to fluently to interact with staff Basic mathematical skills Computer literate to create special forms Interpersonal skills to deal with staff
Qualifying Standards:
Education High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience Some experience required. Previous fine dining and banquet experience.
Licenses or Certificates:
SERV Safe and RAMP certification. CPR certification and/or first aid training preferred.
Grooming:
All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
