This hybrid position supports the Banquets team by serving in both a leadership and service capacity. On designated shifts, this role acts as Banquet Captain, helping lead event execution, direct service flow, and support banquet staff. On other shifts, this role serves as a Banquet Server, providing attentive, polished, and personalized service that reflects the Hotel ZaZa guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform in a dual-capacity role, serving as either Banquet Captain or Banquet Server based on business needs and scheduled assignments. On Banquet Captain shifts, assist the Banquet Manager in leading event setup, execution, and breakdown to ensure smooth operations and service excellence. Help direct banquet staff during service, communicate event timelines, and monitor the pace and quality of service. Serve as a point of contact for banquet associates during events, helping address operational needs and guest requests in real time. On Banquet Server shifts, provide professional and attentive food and beverage service for banquet functions, meetings, and special events. Set up banquet rooms according to event orders, including tables, linens, chairs, service stations, and event-specific details. Ensure all banquet spaces are clean, organized, and presentation-ready before, during, and after events. Maintain a strong working knowledge of event details, menu offerings, service standards, and timing expectations. Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests to ensure a seamless event experience. Communicate effectively with culinary, banquet leadership, and other hotel departments to support successful event execution. Assist with breakdown, cleanup, and resetting of banquet spaces following events. Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and food handling standards.
Qualifications:
Previous banquet, restaurant, or hospitality service experience required. Prior banquet captain, lead server, or supervisory experience preferred. Strong leadership presence with the ability to direct service teams while also working hands-on. Excellent communication, organization, and guest service skills. Ability to remain calm, flexible, and detail-oriented in a fast-paced event environment. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull banquet equipment and supplies as needed.
