Job Description

Job Summary Comfort Inn Redding is seeking a dependable, guest-focused Guest Services Associate to join our team. This is a hybrid position that combines front desk operations, breakfast service, and general hotel support responsibilities. In a smaller hotel environment, teamwork matters. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and is willing to help wherever needed. One shift may involve checking guests in and out, while another may involve preparing breakfast, assisting with laundry, stocking supplies, or helping maintain public areas. We are looking for someone who understands that hospitality is about creating a positive experience for every guest, every day. Key ResponsibilitiesFront Desk Operations & Guest Service Check guests in and out efficiently and accurately. Verify identification and payment methods, assign rooms, and issue key cards. Answer incoming calls and assist guests with reservations, directions, and general inquiries. Handle guest concerns professionally and resolve issues whenever possible. Process payments, post charges, and maintain accurate cash-handling procedures. Assist guests with Choice Privileges enrollment and program questions. Coordinate with housekeeping regarding room status, early arrivals, late departures, and room moves. Maintain front desk logs and communicate important information between shifts. Respond promptly to guest requests and service needs. Promote hotel amenities, local attractions, and guest services. Breakfast Service Prepare and set up the complimentary breakfast before service begins. Cook, stock, and replenish breakfast items according to Choice Hotels brand standards. Maintain fresh coffee, juices, pastries, cereals, fruit, and hot food items throughout service. Monitor food quality, cleanliness, and presentation. Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures. Clean and sanitize breakfast equipment, counters, tables, and kitchen areas after service. Monitor breakfast inventory and communicate supply needs to management. Hotel Support & Floater Duties Maintain cleanliness of the lobby, breakfast area, front desk, and public spaces. Fold laundry, stock linens, and assist with housekeeping support as needed. Deliver guest amenities and supplies to rooms. Assist with room inspections and quality-control checks. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and guest feedback to management. Support other departments during busy periods or staffing shortages. Property & Security Follow all hotel safety and emergency procedures. Conduct periodic property walks when assigned. Serve as a professional representative of the hotel at all times. Help maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests and staff. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous hotel, hospitality, restaurant, retail, or customer service experience preferred. Experience with Choice
ADVANTAGE
is a plus but not required. Strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills. Comfortable using computers, phones, and basic office software. Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment. Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented. Food Handler Certification preferred or willingness to obtain after hire. 3:00 PM•11:00 PM Weekend and holiday availability is required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, carry supplies, and perform light housekeeping duties. Ability to work around hot equipment, cleaning chemicals, and commercial kitchen equipment.
