Job Title:
South-FANS Technician Job Description The South-FANS Technician supports hospital food service operations by assembling patient meal trays, delivering meal carts to patient rooms, and assisting across various food service stations as needed. This role requires strong attention to detail to ensure that each patient receives the correct meal based on their specific dietary needs, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment similar to a busy restaurant. Responsibilities Assemble patient meal trays accurately, ensuring each tray includes the correct food items based on individual diet orders and restrictions. Deliver meal carts promptly and safely to patient rooms throughout the hospital, following established routes and procedures. Verify that each tray matches the corresponding patient ticket or order before delivery to maintain accuracy and patient safety. Assist at different food service stations in the cafeteria and kitchen during busy periods, including food preparation, serving, and restocking. Perform general cleaning duties in the food service area, such as wiping surfaces, sanitizing equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment according to sanitation and safety standards. Handle and transport food carts and supplies, including lifting up to 50 lbs and pushing up to 100 lbs as required. Provide courteous, professional customer service to patients, visitors, and hospital staff, maintaining a helpful and respectful attitude at all times. Follow all hospital and food safety policies, including hygiene, dress code, and infection control procedures. Collaborate with team members and assist wherever needed to support smooth daily operations and meet service demands for over 700 guests per day. Essential Skills At least 1.5 years of experience in the food service industry, ideally in a fast-paced environment such as a busy restaurant. Minimum of 1.5 years of job tenure with previous employers, demonstrating reliability and commitment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push up to 100 lbs safely and repeatedly during the shift. Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in assembling trays and following dietary requirements. Customer service-oriented mindset with the professionalism required for a hospital setting. Ability to work effectively as a team player and assist in multiple stations as needed. Capability to work varying shifts, including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends on a rotating schedule. Basic skills in food service, food preparation, dishwashing, and cleaning. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a high-volume food service environment serving large numbers of guests per day. Demonstrated ability to maintain composure and efficiency in a fast-paced setting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff. Willingness to follow strict hygiene, dress code, and appearance standards appropriate for a hospital environment. Why Work Here? Shifts rotate among 6:00 AM-2:00 PM, 12:00 PM-8:00 PM, and 3:00 PM-8:00 PM, and include weekend work, with two days off per week. The role involves regular standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and pushing up to 100 lbs while moving carts and supplies. Appearance and general hygiene are very important due to the hospital setting. Dress and appearance standards include no facial piercings, tattoos must be covered, and no heavy fragrances. You will work with standard food service equipment and cleaning supplies in a structured, safety-focused environment that prioritizes cleanliness, sanitation, and professionalism. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
