ABOUT THE ROLE
Crave-It Nutrition is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Server/Prep Cook to join our school food service team at Basis Plano. In this role, you'll support daily kitchen operations through food prep, cooking assistance, and serving students — while also handling our point-of-sale system with speed and accuracy. You'll work alongside the Kitchen Manager and culinary team to ensure every student receives a quality meal, served quickly and correctly. This role is ideal for someone who's comfortable in a fast-paced kitchen, picks up new systems quickly, and takes pride in being dependable, efficient, and friendly under pressure.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Prep & Cooking Support Assist cooks with daily food preparation, including chopping, portioning, assembling, and basic cooking tasks Follow recipes and prep lists accurately and consistently Help maintain a clean, organized, and health-code-compliant kitchen Support opening and closing kitchen procedures Service & Point of Sale Operate the POS system to ring up student and staff meals quickly and accurately Manage meal lines efficiently during high-volume lunch periods, keeping service moving without sacrificing accuracy Troubleshoot basic POS issues and flag any technical problems promptly Maintain accurate transaction records and assist with daily reconciliation as needed Team & Service Standards Work collaboratively with cooks, kitchen leadership, and fellow servers to keep service running smoothly Communicate respectfully and warmly with students, staff, and parents Follow all food safety practices, including proper temperature handling and sanitation Report inventory needs, equipment issues, or service concerns to the Kitchen Manager
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Required Prior experience in a kitchen, food service, or fast-paced customer service environment Strong comfort with computers and technology — able to learn and operate a POS system quickly and accurately Ability to work efficiently and stay calm during high-volume rush periods Reliable, punctual, and consistent attendance Ability to pass a comprehensive criminal background check Willingness to complete Safe Environment Training as required by the Diocese Food Handler Certificate (or ability to obtain prior to start date) Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment Preferred Experience in school food service or institutional cooking Prior POS or cash-handling experience Bilingual in English and Spanish Basic knowledge of food allergies and safe food-handling protocols
