RETAIL DINING DIRECTOR
to lead our restaurant concepts on the beautiful campus of
MIDWESTERN STATE UNIVERSITY.
This key leadership position overseeing our
FAST CASUAL
campus dining options, you will be responsible for adhering to the client's culture and guidelines, the Health Departments regulations, and company's standards & policies. This position also motivates, trains, develops, and directs all employees to accomplish the objectives of the operation to the satisfaction of the customers and client. At Midwestern State University, we serve over 5,000 students across campus in one dining hall, a student lounge and three national brands on campus; Chick Fil A, Einstein Bagels and Starbucks (WPS).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains excellent relationships with the client. Manages, trains, and develops associates. Performs other duties as assigned Oversee daily dining operations across retail and/or residential dining locations Ensure consistent execution of food quality, presentation, and service standards Support implementation of brand standards (Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, etc., if applicable) Monitor labor, scheduling, and productivity to meet operational needs Assist in managing budgets, forecasting, and P&L performance Monitor food cost, labor cost, and controllable expenses Support inventory controls, ordering, and waste reduction initiatives Utilize reporting tools (e.g., POS, Power BI, or internal systems) to track performance Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of team members Provide coaching, performance feedback, and progressive discipline when needed Promote a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture Support scheduling and labor deployment to align with business demands Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and responsiveness to feedback Address guest concerns and resolve service issues promptly Partner with campus stakeholders to enhance dining services and engagement Ensure adherence to company policies, food safety standards, and health regulations Maintain sanitation, safety, and audit readiness (local and company audits) Support communication with university partners and campus leadership Assist with vendor coordination, product sourcing, and contract compliance Help implement new concepts, promotions, and service initiatives Enforce HACCP standards and workplace safety practices
Qualifications:
1 to 3 years of food service management experience. Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations. Strong leadership and communication skills. Financial experience and business acumen skills. Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet. Associate's degree is preferred. Apply to Chartwells Higher Education today!
