Job Description

Utah Valley University is seeking a part-time Catering Server Assistant who enjoys working in a team-focused environment and takes pride in delivering excellent service. This role offers the opportunity to support daily food service operations, including setting up, serving, and cleaning up breakfast and lunch at EATS, while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced campus setting. Working under close supervision, the position provides clear guidance and structure, making it a great fit for individuals who are reliable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. CUSTOMER SERVICE
This position tends to guests and greets them as they enter and exit the restaurant. Takes POS transactions and is kind and helpful to all customers.
OPERATIONS
Responsible for the setup of the storefront, which includes turning on equipment for the day, brewing coffee, following the store opening, restocking items at EATS, and closing lists provided. Using the register. Getting breakfast and lunch food from the main kitchen. Using carts, hot boxes, and other equipment.
SANITATION
Performs store duties assigned by the manager, which include washing service trays and cleaning work areas. sweeping and mopping, washing EATS dishes using the compartment sink and /or dish room machine. General cleaning and organization of all working areas related to equipment. Take timed food temperature of food in the hot and cold wells as directed. Ensure packaged food is dated correctly and use FIFO. Must be customer-oriented, friendly, helpful, and able to follow directions from their supervisor. Required to arrive at work on time in a clean uniform and fulfill all duties assigned to them. Attends to all other duties assigned by the manager. A year of experience in the field or in a related area. A Food Handlers Permit is required within the first 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of experience in the field or in a related area. Licenses/Certifications Must hold an official ID or a valid driver's license Knowledge Excellent customer service. Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a restaurant. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and stand for long periods of time Skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The candidate must have the ability to read technical procedures, and/or government regulations, and written instructions and manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to read, add, divide, and multiply. Abilities
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and work with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret and act on a variety of instructions which may be furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to respond to questions from guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
