Production Associate - Meat Cutter Lancaster, KY Pay - $14/hr First Shift Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented meat cutter to join our team in a slaughterhouse environment. This role involves breaking down carcasses into primal and retail cuts while adhering to stringent safety, sanitation, and quality standards. Candidates must possess strong knife skills and be comfortable working efficiently in a cold environment. Responsibilities Break down beef, pork, or other livestock carcasses into specified primal, sub-primal, and retail cuts. Trim, debone, and portion meat products according to company specifications and customer requirements. Inspect meat for quality, consistency, and safety concerns. Operate cutting equipment such as saws, grinders, and skinners safely and correctly. Follow all OSHA and USDA regulations related to meat handling and food safety. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, tools, and equipment. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Properly label, weigh, and package processed cuts. Work closely with supervisors and line workers to maintain production flow. Communicate any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately. Assist in inventory rotation and storage of meat products. Essential Skills Proven experience as a meat cutter, butcher, or related role. Strong knife-handling and cutting skills. Knowledge of meat anatomy and standard cutting practices. Ability to work in cold environments (35-45°F / 2-7°C). Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift 50-75 lbs, and perform repetitive motions. Understanding of sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required). On-the-job training often provided. The facility requires regular cleaning to wash off excess meat and blood, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a sanitary workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $14.00 - $14.50/hr.
