Job Description

About:
Established fine dining restaurant in Birmingham, Alabama which is known for exceptional hospitality, private dining, special events, and business entertaining is seeking an accomplished Executive Chef to lead our culinary program, inspire our kitchen team, and continue pushing culinary excellence to new heights.
Position Summary:
The Executive Chef will oversee all culinary operations, including menu development, kitchen leadership, food quality, cost management, staffing, training, and operational execution. This role requires a highly creative and disciplined culinary professional with strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to thrive in a high
  • volume, chef-driven environment.
Banquet background is preferred due to the large volume of private events.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage all back-of-house culinary operations
  • Develop innovative seasonal menus aligned with the restaurant's concept and standards
  • Maintain exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Oversee inventory, food cost controls, labor management, and vendor relationships
  • Recruit, mentor, train, and develop kitchen staff
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, and health regulations
  • Collaborate with ownership and management on business strategy and guest experience initiatives
  • Foster a positive, professional, and performance-driven kitchen culture
  • Execute private dining events, specialty dinners, and catering initiatives as needed
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef leadership experience in upscale or fine dining
  • Strong background in seasonal, farm-to-table, or elevated Southern cuisine preferred
  • Strong Banquet background for the formulation and execution of large events.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing culinary teams
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Experience managing food and labor costs while maintaining quality standards
  • Passion for mentorship, innovation, and hospitality excellence
  • Culinary degree preferred but not required with equivalent experience
