Redondo Beach Now Hiring:
Sushi Chef / Helper (Kitchen Experience Required) Yanagi Kitchen is looking for a motivated and reliable Sushi Chef / Helper to join our team at our Redondo Beach location. We are a take-out-only sushi restaurant serving the South Bay, focused on quality, speed, and consistency. This position is ideal for someone with sushi roll experience who wants to learn sushi preparation , develop knife skills, and grow within a professional sushi kitchen.
Position:
Sushi Chef / Helper Schedule 2 days per week (Satuday, Sunday) 2:30 PM to close Requirements Prior Sushi experience (restaurant or food service) Willingness to learn sushi preparation, rolling, and fish cutting Comfortable working as both a sushi chef and dishwasher Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Strong cleanliness habits and understanding of food safety Clean-as-you-go mindset Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented Good communication skills and positive attitude Physically able to stand for long periods and handle dishwashing duties Responsibilities Assist sushi chefs with prep, including ingredients, rolls, and fish preparation Learn to make sushi rolls and cut fish under chef guidance Wash dishes, clean kitchen equipment, and maintain workstations Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and compliant with health standards Support smooth kitchen operations during service Adapt to our take-out-only kitchen workflow Participate in ongoing training and skill development What We Offer Competitive pay , based on experience Hands-on training in sushi preparation and knife skills Opportunity to grow into a sushi chef role over time Supportive, team-oriented work environment Growth and advancement opportunities as we expand
