Executive Chef Distinctive Resorts San Luis Obispo, CA Job Details Full-time $80,000 - $90,000 a year 23 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Qualifications Food Safety Manager Certification Food Handler Certification Full Job Description Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort is looking for an Executive Chef passionate about sustainable, locally sourced, and creatively prepared food. This position is also responsible for overseeing the one-acre Chef's Garden.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons. Executes, modifies or creates new menus that meet quality standards. Ensures that all recipes, food preparations, and presentations meet restaurant's specifications and commitment to quality. Estimate food requirements and food/labor costs Supervise kitchen staff's activities. Recruit and manage kitchen staff. Performs administrative duties. Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs. Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards. Keep time and payroll records. Sets excellent customer service and work examples. Participates in all company events. Performs other duties as assigned by ownership and upper manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. Proven working experience as a head chef. Must be able to work holidays, weekends and evenings. California Food Handler Manager Certification. Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently. Needs an extensive banquet, special event, food and beverage, and front-of-the-house experience.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following: Calculate figures and amounts. Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work in stressful situations. Stand and walk for long periods of time or an entire shift, repetitive motions of hands, wrists and fingers, climb stairs, balance, stoop, squat, bend, twist, kneel, reach, grasp, shake, stir, pour, and squeeze with both hands. Talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move, carry, push and pull up to 50lbs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time, frequent exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, humidity and extreme cold. There is also frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, sanitation solutions, meat and poultry products, seafood and produce. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Work conditions include exposure to scents, mineral water sulfur odors and hot surfaces.
