Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Line Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation, and will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards. The Sushi Line Chef will work closely with the Head Sushi Chef, Sous Sushi Chef and Kitchen Staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and exceptional food service. Duties In this role, you will serve as a vital member of our team to enrich the culinary and service experience of our guests. Prepare a variety of sushi dishes and speciality rolls, including but not limited to nigiri and sashimi, while adhering to traditional techniques and presentation standards. Acquaint yourself with our menu, current specials and Japanese cuisine. Ensure all food handling practices comply with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. Manage inventory of sushi ingredients, including fish, rice, and vegetables, ensuring freshness and quality at all times. Monitor food quality during preparation and presentation to guarantee customer satisfaction. Understand proper handling and waste reduction of products. Keep your work area clean and sanitized. Learn and perfect your sushi techniques under the guidance of our skilled Chef Team and Head Chef. Interact with guests at sushi bar and cultivate an amazing experience for yourself and guests. Requirements Proven experience as a sushi line chef, chef's assistant or similar role in a restaurant setting. Must have a minimum of one year experience as a sushi chef or similar role. Teamwork, humility and collaboration. Passion for food and beverage. Strong knowledge of food handling practices and culinary techniques specific to Japanese cuisine. Ability to cater to diverse dietary needs while maintaining flavor and presentation standards. Ability to use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as ovens, grill, and knives. Proficient knife skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. A passion for culinary arts with a commitment to delivering high-quality food service. Maintain a professional and hygienic appearance, including uniform and personal grooming. Have a good sense of humor. Embraces feedback and wants to constantly improve under the guidance of our head chef. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment. Takes initiative and has a sense of urgency. Lift and carry trays, dishes, equipment, and goods up to 50 lbs, stock inventory, and perform restocking duties. Maintain a neat and organized workspace, including proper storage of supplies and cleaning of surfaces. Move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs. Ability to work in close proximity to coworkers in a crowded kitchen or serving area Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
