Englewood, CO Position Summary The Sous Chef supports the Executive Chef in managing all kitchen operations within the hotel's culinary department. This role ensures the highest standards of food quality, presentation, sanitation, and team leadership while maintaining cost control and operational efficiency. The Sous Chef will assist in menu development, oversee kitchen staff, and ensure compliance with brand and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Culinary Operations Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations across all food outlets, banquets, and room service. Maintain Hilton brand culinary standards for food quality, consistency, and presentation. Ensure all recipes, portioning, and preparation techniques are followed. Support menu development, seasonal offerings, and special event menus. Leadership & Team Management Supervise and train kitchen staff including Sous Chefs, line cooks, and stewards. Lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef. Conduct staff scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluations. Foster a positive and collaborative kitchen culture. Financial & Cost Control Monitor food costs, inventory, and purchasing to ensure budget compliance. Assist with forecasting, ordering, and inventory management. Reduce waste through proper planning, storage, and utilization of products. Food Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with all health, sanitation, and food safety regulations. Maintain proper HACCP procedures and safe food handling standards. Conduct regular inspections to maintain a clean and organized kitchen. Guest Experience Ensure exceptional guest satisfaction through quality cuisine and efficient service. Respond to guest feedback and make improvements where necessary. Support banquet and event culinary execution. QualificationsRequired 5+ years of culinary experience in upscale hotels, resorts, or high-volume restaurants. 2+ years in a leadership role such as Sous Chef. Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience. Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, cost control, and food safety standards. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Preferred Luxury hotel or large convention property experience. Experience with multi-outlet culinary operations. ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification.
