Established in 1938 and now led by the third generation of the Carbone family, the restaurant offers a timeless Italian fine dining experience that combines culinary excellence with exceptional service. Carbone's Hospitality Group is seeking a Sous Chef for Carbone's Ristorante, a historic Downtown Hartford dining destination returning after a highly anticipated reopening. Our Ristorante focuses on classic Italian cuisine, handmade pastas, seafood, tableside service, and simple food executed at a high level. We are seeking a Sous Chef who values craftsmanship, organization, and exceptional guest experiences. This position is ideal for a chef who enjoys teaching, maintaining standards, and building a culture of excellence. Responsibilities Support all aspects of kitchen leadership and service execution Train and mentor culinary team members Maintain recipe adherence and presentation standards Assist with ordering, inventory management, and food cost controls Manage prep production and line readiness Uphold sanitation, safety, and quality standards Collaborate with Executive Chef on menu execution and operational improvements Qualifications 3+ years of leadership experience in upscale dining preferred Strong understanding of classic cooking techniques Experience with scratch cooking and pasta production is a plus Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to lead by example in a professional kitchen environment Nights and weekends required What We Offer Competitive salary Paid vacation Career advancement opportunities Professional, chef-driven culture Opportunity to be part of a historic restaurant revival Join a team committed to hospitality, craftsmanship, and building one of Hartford's premier dining experiences.
