Executive Chef Fat Duck Tavern - 5.0 West Hartford, CT Job Details Full-time $75,000 - $90,000 a year 14 hours ago Qualifications Operational analysis Teamwork Operations management ServSafe Attention to detail ServSafe Food Manager Certification Full Job Description Executive ChefFat Duck Tavern - West HartfordPosition Summary Fat Duck Tavern is seeking a passionate, creative, and highly organized Executive Chef to lead all culinary operations at our second location in West Hartford. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires active participation in daily kitchen operations, food preparation, line execution, and team development. The Executive Chef will be responsible for menu development, food quality, inventory management, staff training, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, consistency, and hospitality. We are looking for a leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and leads by example in the kitchen every day. Key Responsibilities/Culinary Leadership Develop and execute seasonal menus, specials, and featured dishes Maintain consistency, presentation, and quality standards across all menu items Work directly on the line during service and assist with food preparation as needed Ensure recipes, portioning, and plating standards are followed Kitchen Management Lead, mentor, and train kitchen staff through direct daily involvement Create efficient schedules and manage labor costs Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented kitchen culture Maintain strong communication between kitchen and front-of-house teams Inventory & Cost Control Manage food ordering, inventory, and vendor relationships Monitor food costs, waste, and kitchen efficiency Ensure proper storage, rotation, and labeling of products Conduct regular inventory counts and cost analysis Sanitation & Compliance Maintain full compliance with health department regulations and food safety standards Ensure all kitchen equipment and workspaces are clean and properly maintained Implement and enforce sanitation procedures and HACCP standards Operational Excellence Collaborate with ownership and management on restaurant goals and growth Assist with catering, private events, and special promotions Continuously improve systems, workflows, and kitchen operations Qualifications Previous Executive Chef or Sous Chef leadership experience preferred Valid ServSafe Manager Certification required Strong knowledge of food cost control and kitchen operations Ability to lead and motivate a team in a high-volume environment Strong work ethic and willingness to work side-by-side with the kitchen team Excellent organizational and communication skills Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices Creativity, professionalism, and attention to detail Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Performance-based growth opportunities Dining discounts Opportunity to help shape and grow an expanding restaurant brand Supportive and creative work environment Fat Duck Tavern is committed to creating memorable dining experiences through exceptional food, hospitality, and teamwork.
