Job Description

Overview Family owned & operated South Indian restaurant looking for an Assistant Chef. You will support the Owner & Head Chef(s) in preparing and presenting exceptional dishes, ensuring smooth kitchen operations, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to learn authentic recipes that are unique to our family legacy. Develop your culinary skills in a hospitality-focused environment that values dedication & excellence. Whether you're experienced in preparing sauces, bases, rotis & crepes or catering environments, your contribution will help create memorable dining experiences for our guests. Duties Assist in preparing a variety of menu items with precision and flair, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards. Support food production activities, including chopping, marinating, plating, and garnishing dishes to ensure timely service. Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during shifts, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes safety and efficiency. Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, rotating supplies, and communicating supply needs to ensure seamless operations. Uphold food safety standards by following proper handling procedures, sanitation practices, and HACCP guidelines. Contribute to menu planning and development by suggesting innovative ideas that enhance guest satisfaction. Oversee catering events and banquet setups, ensuring all food service meets quality expectations and client specifications. Qualifications Proven experience in South Indian / Indian / Asian / Italian / Mexican / Caribbean/ Ethiopian food preparation within a restaurant, catering, or banquet setting; fine dining experience is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and dietary department procedures. Skilled in food production techniques including cooking, plating, and presentation. Experience with inventory management, kitchen management systems, and food handling protocols.
