Job Description

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
:
EXPERIENCE
: At least One to Two years experience required composed of evidence of experience in above noted areas of practice, to include experience in the area of sanitation, hygiene, and food preparation. We are an inpatient Residential Substance Abuse Addiction Treatment Center that provides comprehensive care and support to individuals struggling with addiction. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self motivated and creative cook responsible for food preparation, line cooking, sanitation and cleanliness and daily kitchen maintenance. Monday to Friday
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION
Assist in the development of menus. Requisition food, supplies and equipment. Inspect and taste food for quality. Order the quantities of food needed to meet menu requirements and/or grocery shop as needed. Inspect and supervise serving of food. Performs related duties. Assure preparation and handling of food in accordance with sanitary regulations and with national and local standards, acting within administrative policies and within budgetary requirements. Assure preparation of sufficient quantities of food in time to meet meal schedules. Assure storage of perishables and avoidance of food spoilage and waste. Assure palatability and appetizing appearance of meals. Assure care of kitchen equipment. Ability to work cooperatively with others and supervise a variety of employees. Demonstrate initiative and sound judgement involved in planning menus, in consultation with Dietician, utilization of left-overs, ordering of food to meet menu requirements and preparation of attractive, nutritious, and palatable meals. EDUCATION
: High School Diploma or equivalent CPR Trained, Food Manager Certification Safe-Serve Certified Experience in conflict resolution Compassionate and caring demeanor Ability to build rapport with clients Excellent written and verbal communication skills Abilities/Competencies Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality Laws. Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies. Knowledge of Workplace Violence Prevention. Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities Modify menus or create new ones that meet quality standards Estimate food requirements and food/labor costs Rectify arising problems or complaints Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
