Sous Chef We are seeking an experienced and talented Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for culinary excellence, and the ability to support the Executive Chef in delivering exceptional dining experiences. As the Sous Chef, you will play a key role in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, and maintaining a positive and productive kitchen environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Assist the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation and culinary activities Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, including line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers Ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation Oversee the kitchen during service, ensuring smooth operations and timely delivery of dishes Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create and develop new menu items Manage kitchen staff schedules and assignments Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of kitchen staff Assist with budgeting and cost control efforts to maximize efficiency and profitability Handle customer inquiries and special requests regarding food preparation Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a professional kitchen Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and sanitation practices Excellent leadership and communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations Creativity and a passion for culinary innovation Strong organizational and time management skills Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required Culinary degree or equivalent certification is a plus
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items, including equipment and supplies, weighing up to50 pounds. Prolonged periods of standing and moving throughout the kitchen Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for performing precise culinary tasks Ability to perform repetitive tasks with precision and efficiency Strong physical stamina to handle the demands of a fast-paced work environment
