Full Job Description Position Overview:
As the Sous Chef, you will oversee all kitchen activities during the shift, ensuring that all ingredients, raw bar items, and seafood dishes are prepared to the highest standard for our dinner service. Working directly under the Executive Chef, you will play a key role in preparing the kitchen for the day and ensuring that every dish is ready to meet the restaurant's culinary expectations. This is a hands-on role that requires a keen eye for detail, a love for Southern seafood, and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all kitchen work during the shift, ensuring that all raw bar items, seafood, and ingredients are properly prepared for service. Oversee the preparation of dishes for both our raw oyster offerings and Southern-inspired seafood dishes. Ensure the kitchen is fully stocked with all necessary ingredients, ensuring freshness and quality for service. Collaborate with the Executive Chef to ensure the kitchen is fully prepared for the day's service needs. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards in the kitchen and storage areas. Ensure all food is stored properly, labeled, and rotated according to safety standards. Assist in the training of junior staff and cooks, helping them improve skills and maintain consistency. Manage inventory of ingredients, working with the team to keep track of stock levels and ensuring efficient use of resources. Contribute to the development of daily specials, new menu items, and seasonal preparations. Communicate effectively with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth handoff and seamless service.
