Job Description

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i's only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i's leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women's Center and the Women's Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center. Our Food and Nutrition Services department provides quality nutritious meals to patients, visitors and staff while educating on the importance of healthy eating habits. We also work with medical staff to ensure accurate diet modifications for patients as needed. The department is responsible for performing a variety of general preparation and food service activities, including tray assembly and delivery, working in the cafeteria, cashiering, ware washing, assisting with pantry functions, nourishment activities and catering. As the Manager, you will provide operational oversight and coordination of services related to food preparation, production, and distribution with a focus on delivering quality food and nutrition services for Hawaii Pacific Health and its entities. In this role, you will manage and train kitchen personnel and serve as a resource for all related culinary activities. In this role, you will collaborate with the Director of Food and Nutrition Services to develop, plan, price, and implement menu items. As the Manager, you will ensure proper equipment operation/maintenance and maintain department policies and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance for proper safety and sanitation in the kitchen.

  • 84,490 - 105,602 USD per year
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Service, Food Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Three (3) years of demonstrated culinary/food service operations experience in roles of progressively greater accountability performing food production to include inventory, ordering, pricing, developing and implementing menu plans.

  • Graduate from an accredited culinary program.
Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting. Lead or supervisory experience.
