Job Description

Briny Swine Smokehouse is seeking a motivated and experienced Sous Chef to join our leadership team. This is a hands-on management position for someone who thrives in a high-volume environment, leads by example, and takes pride in developing strong teams and delivering consistent execution. The Sous Chef will play a critical role in the daily operation of the kitchen, working alongside the Executive Chef to ensure quality, efficiency, profitability, and a positive team culture. This position requires strong leadership, organization, and communication skills, along with a commitment to maintaining high standards in food quality, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction. Responsibilities Assist in overseeing all daily kitchen operations Lead and support kitchen staff during prep and service Maintain quality, consistency, and presentation standards across all menu items Manage inventory, ordering, and food cost controls Assist with scheduling and labor management to meet operational goals Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation standards Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and retaining skilled kitchen staff Coach and develop team members while fostering accountability and professionalism Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient kitchen environment Take ownership of kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef Qualifications Previous Sous Chef experience or equivalent kitchen leadership experience required Strong understanding of food costing, inventory management, labor controls, and kitchen systems Experience working in high-volume restaurant environments Barbecue, live-fire, or wood-fired cooking experience preferred but not required Fluent in both English and Spanish Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure Must obtain and maintain a ServSafe Manager Certification Proven ability to build, train, and retain high-performing kitchen teams Schedule & Compensation Full-time position 50+ hours per week Must be available to work nights, weekends, and select holidays
Salary:
$55,000-$60,000 annually , based on experience and qualifications
