Job Description

K, Vacation Pay Job Purpose:
The Sous Chef plays a key role in food production, staff development, and maintaining the highest quality and efficiency in line with Crystal Signature Events standards and health regulations. This position serves as the second-in-command in the kitchen, capable of managing operations and events in the absence of the Executive Chef.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Execution:
Lead food prep, plate-up, and event execution with attention to timing and quality. Document recipes and create detailed prep lists; assign tasks based on staff skillsets. Ensure all dishes meet quality standards through tasting, inspection, and final approval. Manage dietary accommodations and special requests efficiently.
Administrative & Leadership:
Manage food and labor costs to meet budget goals. Conduct inventory, place orders, and maintain vendor relationships. Recruit, train, and retain staff; foster a positive work environment through team-building and mentorship. Address conflicts diplomatically and ensure professional communication at all levels.
Qualifications:
Culinary degree required; minimum 3 years of relevant experience. ServSafe certification required, training provided if needed. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be willing to travel to other venues as needed. Physical ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods.

$45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
