Chef/Facility Attendant Discover Academy Gardner Gardner, KS Job Details Full-time $15 - $18 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Food production Teamwork Food hygiene Attention to detail Decision making Problem-solving Full Job Description The Academy Chef/Facility Attendant prepares, produces, heats, cooks, bakes and serves a variety of foods from fresh, canned, dry, or frozen states according to recipes and assists in other related tasks for the food preparation service. They execute a variety of tasks throughout the Academy that will ensure the health, safety, and structure of the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Day-to-Day Chef Prepares, produces, collects, heats, cooks, bakes and serves a variety of foods specified by the menus, recipes, production records, KDHE and CACFP Standards. Prepares and produces menus that align with KDHE and CACFP standards. Prepares appropriate amounts of food for each classroom, with serving sizes meeting KDHE and CACFP standards. Serves meals to each classroom on time, at the appropriate temperature. Operates kitchen equipment such as, but not limited to, electric mixers, slicers, grinders, ovens, stove tops, etc. Utilizes kitchenware such as, but not limited to, knives, spatulas, whisks, tongs, spoons, and ladles. Practices safe food handling according to KDHE and CACFP standards. Assists in the monitoring and management of food waste. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly deep cleaning of the facility, service areas, and all kitchen equipment such as counters, tables, ovens, refrigerators, freezers, mixers, carts, shelves, floors, etc. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly deep cleaning of the facility, service areas, and all kitchen equipment such as counters, tables, ovens, refrigerators, freezers, mixers, carts, shelves, floors, etc. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including all food storage areas. Label and store food according to the KDHE and CACFP standard. Takes inventory for food related preparation for the kitchen. Fills out shopping lists for the weekly menu and Infant classrooms. Produces reports on food attendance and tracking for classrooms and the facility. Drives to various locations to acquire food. 2. Day-to-Day Facility Attendant Takes inventory for cleaning related service for the facility. Labels and stores janitorial supplies. Fills out janitorial and classroom supply lists for the facility. Maintains a clean and organized facility, following the Facility Attendant Cleaning Checklist Performs duties as they are assigned, which may include, but are not limited to, classroom breaks, teacher assistant duties, outside or inside supervision of children. Helps with classroom responsibilities when downtime arises. Works collaboratively with Directors, Teachers, and other Support Staff Drives to various locations to acquire supplies. 3. Training/Compliance Adhere to best practices, standards, and requirements of all governing entities including but not limited to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment(KDHE), and Children and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Follow procedures and guidelines for any and all regulations (diapering, ratios, applying sunscreen, serving meals, behavior management, etc.) Maintain required training hours (on and off-site) Seek additional training in areas of need/interest. Maintain ratios at all times. This means you may not leave the classroom without another staff member stepping in. Never use your cell phone in the classroom. Cell phones are to be put away, outside of the classroom, in a specific area determined by your Director.Requirements:

The demands of this job require the candidate to sit, stand, walk, bend, jump, reach, and list equipment and/or children up to 50 pounds.
