McLean Hospital is a 200-bed behavioral health facility offering inpatient, residential, and cafeteria services. Recognized as a leading freestanding psychiatric hospital, McLean is known for delivering exceptional patient care and service excellence. The Sous Chef will report to the Executive Chef and lead a team of approximately 12 culinary staff members . Why This Role Matters This position plays a critical leadership role in delivering safe, high-quality meals that directly support patient care outcomes in a behavioral health setting. The Executive Sous Chef contributes to both operational excellence and patient experience , aligning with Sodexo's mission and CARES values.
Schedule:
Day/evening shift (primarily) - 10:30am-7pm May occasionally cover 7am-3:30pm Includes weekends (every other) and some holidays Key Responsibilities Food Production & Clinical Compliance Oversee all aspects of food production in a healthcare environment Ensure compliance with patient dietary restrictions and clinical nutrition requirements Maintain strict adherence to healthcare food service standards and protocols Operational Management Manage purchasing, inventory control, and menu compliance Conduct food cost analysis and forecasting to support budget targets Ensure efficient production planning and execution Safety & Regulatory Compliance Enforce food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards Ensure compliance with Sodexo and healthcare regulatory requirements Leadership & Team Development Lead, coach, and develop a team of culinary staff Foster a positive, high-performance work environment focused on engagement and retention Support training, onboarding, and continuous skill development Culinary Excellence Ensure adherence to Sodexo culinary standards , including: Recipe compliance Food quality consistency Presentation standards What We Offer Compensation is fair and equitable, partially determined by a candidate's education level or years of relevant experience. Physical Requirements:
Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses. Significant walking or other means of mobility. Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds.
Working Conditions:
Generally in an indoor setting; however, may supervise outside activities and events. Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends and extended hours as business dictates.
