$70,000 - $85,000 per year (based on experience) About Us Petit Robert Bistro is a cherished part of Boston's South End, offering traditional French cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. For nearly 20 years, we've served classic bistro dishes made from scratch — from steak frites to coq au vin — earning a loyal neighborhood following and recognition as one of the city's go-to French spots. Under Executive Chef Chris, our kitchen is driven by passion, precision, and pride in every plate. Position Summary We are hiring a Sous Chef to join our experienced kitchen team. The right candidate will bring reliability, love of French cuisine, and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of execution and cleanliness. This is a full-time opportunity with competitive pay and long-term growth potential. Responsibilities Assist Executive Chef in daily operations and leading line service Prepare and execute all menu items to recipe and presentation standards Manage mise en place, station setup, and breakdown Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation procedures Participate in prep, inventory, ordering, and kitchen maintenance Help train and mentor junior staff Collaborate on daily specials and seasonal menus Maintain high standards of efficiency, cleanliness, and teamwork Qualifications Minimum 2 years of professional kitchen experience (French or fine dining preferred) Ability to multitask and perform under pressure Detail-oriented with excellent knife skills and plating consistency Team-first mentality and a positive, respectful attitude Evening and weekend availability required ServSafe certification preferred (or willingness to obtain) What We Offer Competitive salary: $70,000 - $85,000 Staff meals and employee dining discounts Creative collaboration with a chef-driven kitchen Opportunities for advancement and ongoing learning Supportive and professional team culture Work at a long-standing and respected Boston bistro
