Job Description
Sous Chef Seasonal Position (May October)OverviewWe are a high-volume, seasonal seafood restaurant seeking an experienced and driven Sous Chef to help lead our culinary team.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced kitchen. The ideal candidate is organized, solution-oriented, calm under pressure, and committed to maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and team accountability.
As Sous Chef, you will support the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, leading staff, and ensuring consistent execution during peak service.
ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise line cooks, prep cooks, and dish staff during service.
Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
Oversee daily prep production and station organization.
Assist with menu development and seasonal updates.
Enforce food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
Manage inventory, ordering, and product rotation.
Monitor food cost and minimize waste.
Ensure all stations are fully prepared before service.
Step into any station as needed during high-volume periods.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.
Train and mentor kitchen staff to meet performance expectations.
Support smooth communication between kitchen and front-of-house teams.
QualificationsProven experience as a Sous Chef or strong Kitchen Manager in a high-volume restaurant.
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
Experience with inventory control and food cost management.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to remain calm and decisive during peak service.
Passion for seafood and seasonal cooking.
Work EnvironmentSeasonal position (May through mid-October).High-volume service with weekend and holiday shifts required.6 days per week during peak season.
Hands-on leadership role this is not a desk position.
