  • Part-time Overview We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation, and possess a strong background in fine dining and food safety standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity to craft authentic sushi dishes while contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring the highest standards of food presentation and safety. Duties Prepare a variety of sushi dishes with precision and artistry, including rolls, sashimi, and nigiri Plan and develop menu items that meet quality standards and customer preferences Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station in accordance with food safety regulations Handle all aspects of food preparation, including slicing fish, preparing rice, and assembling sushi plates Ensure proper storage of ingredients to maintain freshness and prevent cross-contamination Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal service during busy periods Uphold high standards of food handling, hygiene, and safety throughout all stages of food preparation Assist in training junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques, knife skills, and safety procedures Requirements Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role specializing in Japanese cuisine Strong knowledge of food handling, safety protocols, and sanitation standards in a professional kitchen Excellent knife skills with the ability to prepare fish and vegetables efficiently and safely Experience with menu planning and creating innovative sushi dishes Background in fine dining or upscale restaurant environments preferred Knowledge of food industry best practices related to catering, serving, and food presentation Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail Culinary experience in the food service or restaurant industry is highly desirable Dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus but not required This position offers an engaging environment for culinary professionals passionate about Japanese cuisine and dedicated to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
