Job Description

Overview & Objective Reid Temple Christian Academy, located in Glenn Dale, Maryland, is seeking proposals and applications from qualified culinary professionals for a direct-hire School Chef position. We serve a student population of approximately 275 students. Our goal is to provide nutritious, scratch-cooked, and appealing meals that meet or exceed federal and state nutrition standards.

Location:
Glenn Dale, Maryland Scope of Work & Responsibilities The selected School Chef will manage the daily operations of the school kitchen, including:
Menu Planning:
Design weekly/monthly breakfast and lunch menus tailored for 275 students.
Scratch Cooking:
Prioritize fresh, whole ingredients and minimize processed foods.
Compliance:
Ensure all meals meet National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) nutrition guidelines.
Inventory & Purchasing:
Source ingredients, manage vendor relationships, and operate strictly within the school's food service budget.
Safety & Sanitation:
Maintain a pristine kitchen environment adhering to all Maryland Department of Health regulations. Keep active ServSafe Certification. Required Qualifications Minimum of 3-5 years of commercial culinary experience (experience in school food service, healthcare, or high-volume catering is highly preferred). Valid ServSafe Manager Certification (or equivalent Maryland-recognized food safety credential). Deep knowledge of USDA school meal patterns and allergen management. Ability to pass a mandatory Maryland criminal background check and child protective services clearance Proposal Submission Requirements Interested candidates must submit a proposal packet containing the following:

Week Menu:
Provide a sample 5-day lunch menu designed for 275 K-12 students, including a brief note on how you would handle common food allergies (e.g., nut, gluten, dairy).
