Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Sous Chef's primary responsibility is to prepare high quality food orders in a safe, sanitary, timely fashion and for assisting with other kitchen functions as needed. Works alongside the Executive Chef to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing staff, ensuring food quality and freshness, and monitoring ordering and stocking. Provides meal quality and consistency by following designated recipes.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Must have the ability to provide professional and courteous guest service. Must have good time management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must have good organizational skills, the ability to multitask and strong attention to detail. Must have the ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate both verbally and in writing. Must have the ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude when handling guest situations. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule as position requires working various shifts depending on business need.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists all guests in a professional and courteous manner. Performs job duties and responsibilities in a cost-effective manner and within budgetary guidelines. Monitor food and labor costs, minimize waste, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality. Leads kitchen team in Chef and Executive Sous Chef's absence Provides guidance to line kitchen staff members, including, but not limited, to line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours Trains new kitchen employees to kitchen and Brand Standards. Supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality standards. Works with Executive Chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities Work closely with the banquet and events team to create and execute menus for special events, ensuring seamless service and high guest satisfaction. Verifies that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed Coordinates with management team on supply ordering, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing. Performs all other duties as assigned.
