This role is in Durham. This dynamic role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise, lead kitchen operations, and craft authentic Indian curries and dishes that delight our guests. As a key member of our culinary team, you will oversee food preparation, manage kitchen staff, and ensure the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. Your energetic approach and leadership will inspire excellence and elevate our restaurant's reputation for exceptional Indian cuisine. Responsibilities Prepare a wide variety of Indian curries, gravies, sauces, and regional specialty dishes according to restaurant standards. Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and maintaining smooth workflow. Ensure all dishes are prepared with consistency, authenticity, and attention to detail. Support menu development, recipe testing, and the creation of new curry items and specials. Supervise and train kitchen staff to maintain quality, speed, and kitchen discipline. Monitor food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards at all times. Assist with inventory control, ingredient preparation, and stock rotation. Work closely with the culinary team to deliver an excellent dining experience. Requirements Proven experience as a Sous Chef, Curry Chef, or similar role in an Indian restaurant or high-volume kitchen. Strong knowledge of Indian spices, curries, cooking techniques, and regional cuisines. Ability to prepare dishes consistently in a fast-paced environment. Good leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards. Ability to multitask and maintain quality under pressure. Culinary training or relevant kitchen experience preferred. Preferred Skills Experience with tandoor, biryani, gravies, and regional Indian dishes. Creativity in developing modern curry variations while respecting authentic flavors. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
