ABOUT US
We are a French-inspired artisan bakery dedicated to the craft of traditional and contemporary boulangerie and pâtisserie. From laminated viennoiseries to rustic sourdoughs and cakes and pies, our kitchen blends classical French technique with today's favorites.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We're looking for a passionate, technically skilled Sous Chef to serve as the right hand to our Executive Chef. You'll help lead daily kitchen operations, mentor junior bakers, and ensure every product that leaves our kitchen meets the highest standards of quality and consistency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Executive Chef in managing all back-of-house operations, including prep, production, and service Oversee and participate in the production of breads, pastries, and savory items rooted in French culinary tradition Train, coach, and motivate a team of highly skilled bakers and kitchen staff Manage mise en place, scheduling, and station assignments to ensure smooth daily operations Monitor food quality and presentation standards Assist in menu development, recipe testing, and seasonal specials Manage inventory, assist with ordering, and manage food cost controls Ensure full compliance with New Jersey health and food safety regulations (ServSafe/DOH standards)
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 6 years of professional kitchen experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role Strong foundation in French baking and pastry techniques (lamination, fermentation, classic sauces, etc.) Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred ServSafe Manger certification required (or willingness to obtain) Proven ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Collaborative, low-ego attitude with a genuine love for the craft
